CAPIGI 2025 – Space Data for Dataspaces

May 12, 2025
- May 14, 2025

The Community on Agricultural Policy Innovation and Geo Information (CAPIGI) holds its 10th conference in Amersfoort, since the start in 2005. CAPIGI brings together experts from government, industry, science and the farming sector to discuss the opportunities of geospatial data and technologies to improve the performance of agriculture – from smart farming to sustainability reporting. CAPIGI’25 is dedicated to “Space Data for Dataspaces” and is exploring the growing development of connected digital systems (with geospatial technologies) to feed AI and robotics. Space (spatial) data is collected and used in many ways in agriculture and their value is exponential when integrated with other data sources, from IoT, from advisors, from (scientific) models etc.

Some takeaways from the programme

  • Keynotes from the top leadership in agriculture: director André Hoogendijk (Branche organisation Arable Farmers), director René van der Burg (Dutch Paying Agency, RVO) and director Jurgen Vangeyte (ILVO research institute);
  • “Space Cowboy” Erik Laan provides an overview of the exploding capabilities of space and satellite technology;
  • Dedicated session on Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE), with Grega Milcinski;
  • Foresight to climate reporting with Simon Kay;
  • Dedicated session on Destination Earth and digital twins – led by NSO;
  • Dedicated session on the Agricultural Monitoring System (AMS) – thé European-wide mechanism for day-to-day farm monitoring with satellite data;
  • Dedicated session on Earth monitoring – led by ESA Stakeholder Expansion Facility;
  • Latest news from European Space Imaging, HydroSat (constellation), TerraSphere and more;
  • Dedicated sessions on data governance, data provenance, authentication, and data economy;
  • A conference networking dinner to get even more out of your participation. And enjoy.
