Young SpaceNed Young Professional Challenge

October 9, 2025
| 13:00
- 17:00
Location: Noordwijk
Organising party: CGI, SpaceNed Young Professionals, Spherical, Telespazio, Young Professionals Drechtsteden

What will you be doing during the challenge?

Every second, millions of pieces of space debris race around Earth, endangering satellites, missions and astronauts. Without action, this cloud of debris could set off the Kessler Syndrome: a devastating chain reaction that could lock us out of parts of space for decades. But there is hope. Innovators, researchers, and leaders are coming together to protect the future of space.

Join us to discover bold solutions and be part of the movement safeguarding humanity’s access to the stars! During this challenge day, you’ll team up with young professionals from across the Dutch space sector to tackle one of humanity’s biggest challenges: space debris.

Your task? Design a breakthrough solution with the potential to gain global support—then pitch it to the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA). Expect a Shark Tank-style jury of top experts in mission design and orbital debris mitigation, ready to test your ideas and challenge your vision. And the impact doesn’t stop here: every concept will be shared with the wider space industry, sparking real-world innovation beyond the challenge.

What to expect?

  • Work together with young professionals from the space sector
  • Develop solutions for the urgent challenge of space debris
  • Present your idea to an expert jury and the United Nations (UNOOSA)
  • Network and wrap up with drinks
