Recap: First Edition of the Network & Drinks in 2024

The inaugural Network & Drinks event of 2024 was packed with updates, insightful pitches, and new connections.

UPDATES FROM NL SPACE CAMPUS AND SBIC NOORDWIJK

NL Space Campus kicked off the event with several exciting announcements, such as the potential for the community (especially Young Professionals!) ZIE 2024 in the Van Nelle Fabriek Rotterdam on 4 April. The potential for satellite data teams to join the Geo-Data Fusion Hackathon that is coming up in June. And the opening of the registrations for the LDE NL Space Campus Summer School and dates for NL Space Week 2024

SBIC Noordwijk provided updates on their initiatives, highlighting the opportunity for entrepreneurs to join the European Space Agency’s business incubation centre, become community members and enjoy all the masterclasses and community lunches with the other members. There are two selection rounds each year for ESA BIC’s permanent open call for ideas and applications are now being welcomed before the spring deadline of 27 March. Don’t hesitate to reach out to SBIC Noordwijk if you want to know more!

PITCHES

The evening featured pitches from Artemis TU Delft, RoadRover, and Aardvark Sensing.

Artemis TU Delft, a student society for master students at Delft University of Technology, aims to bridge the gap between enthusiastic students and the space industry through networking events and lectures. They called everyone to reach out if you are interested in working with them, create a visit of young talents to your company, or you want to join them as a student.

RoadRover aims to make traveling by large ships easier by combining GPS and augmented reality for one. They have more options, if you want to find out, keep your eyes open because they will join the ESA BIC programme soon!

Aardvark Sensing, a new ESA BIC incubatee, specialises in providing soil sensing data for precision agriculture, using satellite technology to enhance agricultural practices. This need will continue to grow in the coming decades. Therefore, focusing on an increasingly growing market.

NETWORK AND DRINKS THIS UPCOMING YEAR

The first edition of this year was well visited by over 100 visitors. For example, the entire team of Stellar Space Industries joined us. We also welcomed some new faces from young student rocket teams all the way from Eindhoven and Zwolle: TU students from VOID and MBO engineering students from ARIE Aerospace.

The monthly Network and Drinks have become a meeting point for the ecosystem and community members and a launching pad for new collaborations and initiatives. The growing number of attendees increasingly proves the importance of this event series.

The next edition of Network and Drinks will take place on Thursday, 28 March, at 5 PM. Click here to register.
