ESA BIC start-up Trabotyx receives innovation loan

Recently, ESA BIC Noordwijk startup Trabotyx received an Innovation Loan of 150.000 euro from the local Rabobank
‘Bollenstreek’. With this loan the two founders Tim Kreukniet (CEO) and Mohamed Boussama (CTO) of Trabotyx, who started
the ESA BIC Noordwijk program in December 2020, are able to further develop their weeding robot for organic precision
farming, based on and inspired by space technology. The Innovation loan is specifically intended for entrepreneurs with
an innovative idea that contributes to the digitalisation or sustainability of society or focused on developments in the
field of Circular Economy, Food, Renewables and/or Vitality.

This loan came at exactly the right time. It allowed us to buy critical components and add extra staff to speed up development. On top of that it gave investors extra confidence in what we are doing as we close our Seed-round.

Tim Kreukniet – CEO of Trabotyx

Trabotyx automates manual weeding for organic farmers by building a robot platform. The founders talked to more than a hundred farmers to validate their solution. One thing they noticed is that farmers mostly need more hands. While that is
expensive, nowadays it’s also increasingly difficult.
