Announcing the 5 finalists for the Defence Innovation Competition 2022: into space!

The Defence Innovation Competition is an annual competition for innovative ideas with potential added value for the Defence domain. To stimulate the Dutch space ecosystem and to help the Ministry of Defence to increase its capabilities in the space domain, the Ministry of Defence challenges this year Dutch startups and SMEs from the space industry in the Defence Innovation Competition 2022: Into Space. The 5 finalists are known and NL Space Campus has the privilege to announce them to you!

The selection process consists out of a team of experts from the Ministry of Defence, and experts from the field. The proposals who have been selected for the finals are innovative, fit the current scale the Ministry of Defence is looking for and fits within the set frameworks of the competition. Mainly smaller solutions with a lot of added value for the defence domain. Think about data processing and open source. The final proposals will be presented on november 30 in the National Military Museum in Soest.

The winning proposals are from:

  • Science[&]Technology Group
  • Cohere Consultants
  • AAC Clyde / Hyperion
  • Dawn Aerospace
  • ISISpace

The winning proposal will receive up to 200.000 Euro budget to realise their innovative idea and get the Ministry of defence as a launching customer. Proposals who didn’t win, still get attention and might have the opportunity to be picked up by other departments at the Ministry for future projects. The finals will also be a good place to network with the Dutch ministry of Defence.

About the Defence Innovation Competition 2022:

The Dutch Ministry of Defence is currently a relatively small player in the space domain with limited resources of its own. With the ambition to change this in the coming years, they are looking for new, creative and out-of-the-box ideas to grow the Defence and Military Space domain.

In order to stimulate the Dutch space ecosystem and help the Ministry of Defence to increase its capabilities in the space domain, this year’s innovation competition is focusing on the space industry. The Ministry of Defence organises this edition of the innovation competition together with the NL Space Campus. By winning the Defence Innovation Competition 2022, an amount of € 200,000 is made available to implement the chosen project proposal together with the Ministry of Defence.
