Get Inspired to Apply to the Business Incubator of the European Space Agency

By joining the European Space Agencyโ€™s business incubationย centreย (ESA BIC) inย Noordwijkย in 2024,ย youย canย develop your business idea in theย hub for entrepreneurs from the tech industry and beyond.ย ย What is crucial is that there is a space connection.ย ย ESA BIC Noordwijkย empowersย entrepreneurship and allowsย local economies toย benefitย from space data and technologies.ย ย These are two selection rounds each year for ESAโ€™s permanent open call for ideas, and applications are now being welcomed by theย spring deadline of 27 March.

The incubation hub is basedย on the NL Space Campusย in the heart of the Dutch space ecosystem (next to ESA/ESTEC).ย Youย don’tย have to be a rocket scientist to join the ESA business incubator (you can be, butย it’sย not a requirement). Is your innovative (and ideallyย validated) idea based on space tech or data? Then, you could be in with a shot of being accepted into theย programmeย to receive funding and businessย andย technical support.ย

If youย donโ€™tย have aย spaceย techย background, you will not be alone. Many current startups in the incubator are business and financial professionals and are building their businesses alongsideย engineersย and tech experts.ย Want more info? Join the info sessions!ย You will be surrounded by like-minded entrepreneurs. People fromย different backgroundsย are strongly encouraged to apply.ย

JOIN UPCOMING INFO SESSIONS TO HEAR SUCCESS STORIES

A number of info sessions are happening that could help you to take action and transform your business idea into a commercial success. Why not visit SBIC Noordwijk sometime to listen to the (inspiring) experiences of space business entrepreneurs and ESA BIC alumni, such as:

  • Danielย Spilsย ofย Soilspectย (industry: infrastructure & smart cities); the startup produces an innovative tool for monitoring ground settlement to accelerate sustainable construction.ย

  • Sanderย Reuderinkย ofย Carbleย (industry: food & agriculture); the startup, helps coffee brands reduce their impact on the climate by rewarding farmers for storing carbon.ย

Who knows whatย new business ideas will come in via the next selectionย round?ย Your proposal can incorporate space tech (for upstream or downstream applications) orย utiliseย space (satellite) data toย benefitย life on Earth โ€“ covering industries such as agriculture, construction,ย energyย or transport. Space data can help businesses address environmental indicators and sustainability targets. Your business idea andย ambition could be the solution the planet needs!ย Register for the next webinar on 7 March to find out more.
