Facilities

Facilities are a key ingredient for turning ambitious ideas into real innovations. At NL Space Campus, we provide startups, scale-ups, and researchers with the spaces, tools, and community they need to develop, test, and scale their technologies. Thanks to the support of Provincie Zuid-Holland and Gemeente Noordwijk, the campus continues to evolve into a unique environment where knowledge, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship converge.

Integrated Facilities for the European Space Ecosystem

Vision Campus 2035 positions NL Space Campus as a connected European hub, located next to ESA ESTEC, where research, industry, education and public partners collaborate across the entire space value chain. The campus already offers access to office space, meeting facilities, CometLab, and advanced technical infrastructure, including Thermal Vacuum Chambers (TVAC) and the Compact Range Test Chamber for antenna testing and RF characterisation. Additional facilities are under development, including an Optical Ground Station, a satellite communications field lab, Gaia multi-tenant office space, Giotto 69 short-stay apartments, and the Space Impact Centre.

By integrating research and development, prototyping, testing, manufacturing and scale-up within a single environment, the campus supports faster innovation, reduces development risk, and strengthens collaboration. With strong links to European knowledge centres, NL Space Campus contributes to competitiveness, strategic autonomy, and long-term economic and societal impact within the European space ecosystem.

3D vision of the campus future

Looking into the future

Space is the domain of human imagination. And so, on a much smaller scale, is building a space campus. NL Space Campus provides space for endless possibilities, for exploration and discovery, for new and growing business ventures.

This is our vision of the campus.

It’s not a map, it’s a direction.

FACILITIES

Compact Range Test Chamber

The Compact Range Test Chamber provides a controlled environment for high-precision antenna measurements and RF characterisation. The facility supports the testing and validation of antenna performance, including gain, radiation patterns, directivity and signal integrity, for satellite communication systems and other advanced space applications.

Thermal Vacuum Chambers

Thermal Vacuum Chambers simulate the vacuum and extreme temperature conditions encountered in space, enabling hardware and systems to be tested under representative mission environments before launch. The facility supports the qualification and validation of space components to ensure reliable performance throughout a mission.

CometLab

CometLab is a digital manufacturing lab that supports rapid prototyping, experimentation and early-stage technology development. The facility provides access to digital design tools, 3D printing, electronics workstations and testing equipment, enabling users to design, build and validate innovative space technologies.
