Weekend of Science (Weekend van de Wetenschap) gives people of all ages an accessible way to discover the world of science and technology.
The event takes place every year during the first weekend of October. In 2026, Weekend of Science will take place on 3 and 4 October.
A unique look behind the scenes
During Weekend of Science, visitors get a behind-the-scenes look at participating organisations and can access places that are normally closed to the public. They can meet scientists, see conservators at work in museums and take part in experiments in laboratories.
What is there to do?
The full programme for Weekend of Science 2026 will be available on the Weekend of Science website from 17 September. Those interested in getting an early look at the festival can already explore the first announced activities.
Updates are also available through the Weekend of Science channels on Instagram and Facebook, as well as through its newsletter.
For all ages
Weekend of Science is suitable for almost all ages. The programme focuses particularly on families with children aged 8 to 14, but everyone is welcome to explore the activities and discover more about science and technology.
