New collaboration Space Campus Noordwijk and Sat IoT Lab

08 juni 2020

Bridging the gap between space technology and IoT by combining knowledge and technology worldwide.

Space Campus Noordwijk today announces their new collaboration with Sat IoT Lab. With this partnership Space Campus and the Sat IoT Lab aim to bridge the gap between IoT and satellite data, marking an essential step in transforming the already existing infrastructure in space.

Sat IoT Lab and Space Campus Noordwijk share the ambition to bring together the important players in space and non-space and to raise awareness of the value IoT creates for the public sector and governmental sector. Especially the public sector can benefit from the applications that arise from space data such as for weather and climate, public infrastructure, water management and smart agriculture, providing a major contribution to achieve global UN goals.

Right now the value chain is rather complex and fragmented. Also, there is a huge amount of satellite data available, but there is little knowledge about all the applications that come forward from Sat Iot solutions. This is the reason Sat IoT Lab was founded. By facilitating knowledge -and expertise sharing, and raising awareness through education, organising hackathons and workshops Sat IoT Lab and Space Campus aspire to make IoT for space accessible to benefit society.

“Investments in downstream activities to develop and market applications are unfortunately still undervalued. I’m looking forward to building up the Dutch eco-system for this by collaborating with Space Campus, creating value with IoT and Space data around Dutch competences like water management, logistics, agriculture, meteo and environmental monitoring”, says Hub Urlings, founder of Sat IoT Lab.

“We look forward to this collaboration to strengthen the economic and social value of space technology and to build the capability for the BV Nederland to create value and business in IoT vertical markets around the world”, says Esther Peters Director of Space Campus Noordwijk.
