Deep Space Rovers, AI for Space R&D and predicting collision probability at Network & Drinks March 2023
We look back to another great edition of the NL Space Campus Network & Drinks. Once again, we had the pleasure to welcome a lot of newcomers. In our little community quiz, the majority of the crowd indicated that they visited the event for the first time. With a handful of people answering “10 or more”, we also want to thank our loyal fanbase!

After some more warm-up questions, the crowd was all fired up for the pitches. First in line was Luka Pikulic from Team Tumbleweed, presenting their approach to making deep space accessible for everyone. The team of young scientists aims to deploy a constellation of rovers covering 1/8 of the entire surface of Mars.
ECOSMIC - software predicting the collision probability between space objects
In order to get to deep space, we first need to ensure our continued use of near-Earth space. Gaia Roncalli, cofounder of Ecosmic, introduced the audience to the phenomenon of space debris and presented SAFE, a software predicting the collision probability between space objects. Ecosmic is the latest startup to join ESA BIC Noordwijk and specialises in long-term safety and sustainability of space operations.
Zeta Alpha - unlock the potential of AI research for Space R&D
Our third and final speaker, Jakub Zavrel, covered the hot topic of AI powered knowledge discovery and large language models like the infamous ChatGPT. With his company, Zeta Alpha, he intends to unlock the potential of AI research to stay in the know in space R&D and remote sensing.
Due to King's Day there will be no Network & Drinks in April, but we look forward to welcoming you on the 25th of May to network, exchange knowledge and enjoy some drinks together.
