LiS Students visit the NL Space Campus

Two weeks ago, students from the Leidse instrumentmakers school (LiS) visited the Campus for a specialisation course called Instrumentation for Space. They started at SBIC, where Johan Leijtens from Lens R&D (winner 2021 ESA competition) was their teacher for the day. Afterwards they got to take a look at Stellar Space Industries, where the former LiS student Jerre Sweers is managing director. AVATAR VR and AR Lab was also visited, and they also got to meet our community manager Maaike Smelter.
The students were impressed and got really excited about all the real-life space instrumentation that is located on the Campus. Of course, putting on VR glasses gets everyone excited. But especially seeing the possibilities that these students have, to implement their knowledge and skills after they graduate and how to apply this in real life, is worth a lot for their studies, career and network. And of course, it is worth a lot to us, to be part of the growing Dutch Space Community and growing innovations that happen here in the Netherlands.
